Lionel Messi has said that he doesn’t consider himself a ball hog at all. Messi gave this statement while talking to the reporters after getting the Golden Boot award. Messi got this award for netting 50 goals in the last season.
When asked about his playing style, Messi said, “I know many people consider me a ball hog, but, I don’t think so. Everybody is independent to say whatever he thinks. I don’t pay much attention to what others are saying. I have been playing like this since my childhood days and I don’t think there is anything wrong in my playing style.”
Messi has also been shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or award. The great Argentinean has already got this award thrice before. Messi has been in great form in the ongoing La Liga so far. He has found the net on 13 occasions and apart from that, he has also assisted four goals. He is currently the leading goal scorer in the tournament. Recently, he has scored 300th goal of his career. He has taken only 419 matches to score 300 goals.
When asked about his brilliant form of late, Messi said, “It feels great that I have been scoring goals frequently and have been contributing considerably for the team since the start of the season. We obviously are off to a fine start in the season, but, we should keep playing like this throughout the season. Only then, we would be able to regain La Liga.”
Messi’s national team Argentina has also been performing well in the World Cup qualifying tournament and is currently at the no.1 position in its group. Argentina has lost only one match in the World Cup qualifying tournament so far. When asked about that, Messi said, “Barring that game against Venezuela, we have been superb so far. The players are looking determined and the way we have been playing, we should easily qualify.”
