Spanish giants Barcelona are on the verge of announcing the new contract for Lionel Messi according to Spanish newspaper Marca. It was revealed that the official announcement of his new deal is imminent. The new development will come as a relief to the Barcelona fans especially the ones who had fared the worst concerning Messi who’s a free agent at the moment.
The deal for Messi can now be confirmed officially thanks to the massive investment from equity firm CVC into La Liga. Barcelona are on course to receive around €270m from the investment from CVC. With the new development, Lionel Messi is in line to play for Barcelona during the Joan Gamper Trophy later this week. Barcelona will face Italian Serie A giants Juventus for this year’s edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy.
Messi is on his way back to Barcelona after his holiday this summer. The six-time Ballon d’Or winner didn’t go for his holiday until last month due to his commitment with the Argentine squad at the Copa America tournament hosted in Brazil. Messi was able to win an international trophy with his country after they saw off the hosts in the final. Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 in the final to win a major trophy for the first time in almost 30 years.
