Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has announced that he is almost fully fit. He said he has started running now and anytime the team returns to action, he would be with them. With the suspension of the La Liga amid the Corona crisis and state of emergency in Spain, this return would take a long time.
A lot of Barcelona fans wanted Suarez replaced but the Uruguay international was in good form before his injury that required surgery and lengthy time-off. Antoine Griezmann was not as effective, so the burden was majorly on Lionel Messi. With the long-term layoff of Ousmane Dembele, Barca had to bring in an emergency forward in Martin Braithwaite from Leganes.
With Philippe Coutinho not expected to return, Dembele possibly sold off along with other players to raise funds for a Neymar deal, the La Liga champs still plan to get a forward. They have been linked with a move for Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and other strikers.
The player, who has been sidelined since January for three months, recently donated to the relief find in his native to help feed 500 families. This is amid talks with the club who is seeking to slash players salaries by 70 percent.
Suarez still has up to two years in him before he seeks a ‘retirement home’. For now he would be available to the team if the speculations about returning in June are true.
